Today was as slow as Monday can possibly be. Of course I went to work, and I’m progressively getting later and later every time. (Which is not alright by my standards, but those 5 minutes of snooze cost me so much time!) 9:20 arrival turned into 9:30 arrival, which turned into 9:45, which has now become, I just made it at 9:53 arrival. I need to get my life together!

I went to work today in total fear that I was going to lose the bottom part of my heel because it was loose still although I glued it. I made it all day with it intact, but as I made my way down the stairs to the exit door from work, I realized something was missing from me. Yes, that heel got lost at the end of the damn day. (Struggles.)

After work I headed off to my Italian class where we learned how to talk about the weather and pasta. Apparently the two most talked about things in Italian culture. Weather and Food. Finally I went and got Gelato with my housemates and my teacher and that place was bumping. It was definitely Club Gelato. Lindy Library better step its game up.

My Day:

  • I managed to finish my work assignments on time today and got to leave a little bit early to finally make it to my Italian lesson on time.
  • I’m still trying to catch a small portion of the World Cup match for USA vs Ghana, but I just don’t care enough to go to the television to watch it. I honestly have no hope in the US winning a soccer match, but we are up one goal right now. (chants: ‘Murica)
  • Got Gelato from one of the better gelato places in Cadorna, but I still can’t tell the different in gelato.
  • Came home, cleaned up a bit and caught up on writing and reading again.

What I Learned Today:

  • There are over 200 types of pasta produced in Italy. image
  • Dark Chocolate and Banana gelato are a must have. Life is given new meaning with this in your life. image
  • I don’t think I’m going to survive in the States without having these Gocciole cookies available to me. image
  • Wine is mostly under 5 Euros here and is still quite delicious and edible. Funny enough, I don’t drink wine, but I hear good things. (But I’m over hear telling you about wine like I know it) image
  • Humidity is a real thing in Milan. Too bad I didn’t think about that when I decided to flat iron my hair and discovered it shrank right back up. As much as people were staring at me even more today and the fact that my coworker was shocked to see my short hair, I couldn’t stop the feeling that…image
  • When you use American slang, Italians are either amused or confused by it. Today I told my coworker how much it sucked being pizza-less. Her immediate reaction was a burst of laughter at how I made pizza-less a word and used it in a sentence. Suddenly, my other coworkers joined her and this certainly happened… image
  • There is no such thing as a discount here. The most of a discount you will ever get is a BOGO (Buy One, Get One). Coupons don’t exist here either. That’s all an American concept. image
  • Italians think Americans are weird because we don’t enjoy watching soccer. Well, I watched a soccer match and it’s nothing more than a bunch of babies whining on the field because they merely got a love tap. In America we are just watching Football and looking at soccer players like image
  • I learned how to ask for someone to warm up my pizza. “piu scaldare la mia pizza, per favore.” I believe that’s what it is, don’t take my word for it though. My coworker told me nearly 3 different ways to say hot in order to mean heat up the food, however, I just stared at her blankly and thought image
  • I wanted to make a pizza delivery to my job today, but the pizza shop was closed because it was Monday. WTF Italy. You got a hang nail so you’re closed today? You found a penny so you’re closed today? The Virgin Mary has come down from the Heavens and bestowed Jesus’ blood upon your head so you’re open today to tell all your friends about it? I swear, nothing makes sense in Italy. image

P.S. I got on the train today with the Golden Girls, but remixed edition. They were rocking fashionable clothes, had their make up done, and their hair dyed. #GoHeadWitYoBadSelfGranny
