After a long night of doing absolutely nothing, I got up today around noon. Today was the big day where I attend the Boglioli Milano store opening. I went, and I must say, IT WAS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!

I got up to make sure I went shopping to buy an outfit for the opening. So I headed to the Duomo and went shopping at Bershka. (The Italian version of Forever 21). I got a really cute red blazer and a navy blue striped dress. All for around £50. (about 60 dollars in American money).

It was a 15 minute trip in total for the walk to the metro, catching the metro, and then walking to the boutique. Well the walk to the metro was fine. Catching the metro was fine. Finding the boutique… took far too long. A four minute walk from the metro turned into a 30 minute search.

Me and one of my housemates went to the opening, but in order to kill time we killed some time in the Abercrombie & Fitch store. Which in Italy is HIGHLY over priced. I guess it costs a lot to pay for half naked models to stand at the door.

My Day:

  • Headed to the Duomo to shop in OVS and Bershka. Ended up having to tell myself multiple times to make the purchases I needed, although I was paying more for something than I would in the States.
  • Headed home and called to check that my reservation was still cleared with Boglioli.
  • Had a really hard time finding the place. Then soon realized, only stores with major opening have a carpet with plants around it.
  • Got in the boutique and took a lot of photos. I also mistook a woman for Vera Wang, then I realized she was far too young. Celebrity Doppelganger?
  • Left the boutique with a gift bag. The bag was made of real leather straps. Inside, I found a pair of men’s swim trunks by Boglioli.

What I Learned Today:

  • It is VERY common for almost every Italian to have gone to a fashion week event. They usually go because they enjoy the free food. Also, its fine to look and not buy. (But take TONS of photos) “I’m with press.” *pulls out old droid phone*
  • Fake it til you make it is very real.
  • Me and my housemate were FAR TOO YOUNG to be at the Boglioli opening. But I don’t mind because I know the truth…
  • Rich people aren’t the most talkative bunch of people. I think that’s mostly what I learned. So I’m saying this to whoever is reading and may one day become wealthy, is wealthy, or plans to be. If you see someone you’ve never met before and they aren’t talking to anyone at an event but you know mostly everyone else there, SAY HELLO! Don’t just stare at them and then not say anything.
  • Wearing the Pharrell suit (Suit top with suit shorts is actually really big in Asia.)
  • People love to name drop.

I enjoyed myself today. Right after this Boglioli excursion of the day, me and my housemate finished off the night at a beautiful aperitivo (Shout out to MOMO). Italy, you’ve done well.
