The days are slowly becoming a blur and I’m starting to adapt into Italian life as if I’ve lived here my whole life. I still can’t get with this whole public transportation ending at midnight jive, but I’m learning.

So today I basically annihilated the first assignment I had at work pretty early and then worked on some other small projects. I was so proud of myself because I just swore I was killing the work game. That is until my boss explained the ins and outs of marketing to me. And then asked me to create a comparative pricing chart with actual numbers and figures. (Now, you may not have known me long, but one thing this girl DOES NOT like is math. There was a reason I became and Global Studies and English major!)

Anywho, after work I decided to go out with a housemate of mine and do the Aperitivo thing. BEST.DECISION.EVER. We ended up walking around for the rest of the night and then came home to get up for work the next day. However, be aware that Milan is a city that sleeps.

My Day:

  • Told a coworker that Wednesday is Hump Day. After a second of confusion I explained it meant getting over the work hump.
  • Went to Aperitivo with a housemate and almost got blown away by the strong ass winds of fury!
  • Tried to find a place to hang out. Yes, on a Wednesday night, but these Italian kids be having exams for all eternity.
  • Ended up getting back to public transportation too late. So we had to call a cab.

What I Learned Today:

  • While sitting at Aperitivo, and enjoying myself, a gust of wind and rain came hard and fast. No-one reacts because we are all seated outside, under umbrellas. That was until the business decided to take down the umbrella in the middle of the wind and rain. WTH Italy. Had me out here looking like… image
  • I ordered my first Cosmopolitan at Aperitivo. Need I say more? image
  • Young and attractive Italian people only hang out with other young and attractive Italian people. It’s either your circle of friends all look like supermodels, or you all look like the crypt keeper. But either way… image
  • You can really find cool bars if you search for what you want. We ended up finding this American Rock bar, that just had the coolest, most chill, and ready to dance people ever. All the other bars are made for old, stuffy rich people, or young people who are too cool to turn off their “Blue Steel” face. image
  • Cabs will pick you up in extra sketchy places in the middle of the night. And they will get you home. And it won’t be a starting price of 9 Euro. #ThanksTaxiDriver! Also, they drive really fast. image
  • If you don’t know, Aperitivo is the wonderful time of the day when restaurants offer 1 drink of your choice and a buffet of appetizers for under 10 Euro. This is the place where food be callin’ yo name! image
  • Restaurants are rude if they place down the check after they ask if you would like anything else. Ha..Ha… If only THAT happened in America. image
  • There are no diners here. Have I already told you this? Well, I’m telling you again. THERE ARE NO DINERS IN ITALY! There is no such thing as finding a place to eat when you have the late night munchies for cheap. image
  • Milan is a city that sleeps. image

I just want to write and sleep all day
